3500 BC   Liquorice was already a favourite back in the days of Tutankhamun.

Xaver Fassin brings a recipe for the manufacture of liquorice home with him from Sicily . His son, Klaus Fassin, makes use of it and calls his first liquorice product "Katjes", which means "little kitten" in Dutch.

With Yoghurt-Gums, the first fruit gum to contain real yoghurt, Katjes sets out to conquer the fruit gum market.

Katjes acquires Dr. Hillers, a famous brand name in the German peppermint sweet market.

Katjes acquires Villosa, with its famous candy brands Sallos (liquorice candy) and Hustelinchen (cough candy).

Katjes takes over Frigeo. The market-leader in fizzy candy with the famous brand "Ahoj-Brause" goes on board.

Katjes has taken over the traditional brand "Gletscher Eis", the original refreshing "ice" sweet, which dates back to 1927.

With the acquisition of the licence to produce and distribute Granini Fruit Candies, Katjes have thereby strengthened their position on the confectionery market in Germany.

Today, Katjes is a well established brand with unique liquorice, fruit gum and candy products. As number three in the German candy market, Katjes is very popular among consumers.
